Days 1 and 2

So far: after our Italian dinner last night the entire group went to the Colosseum. Today we saw the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain, along with some great museums.
Quotes by our IB students on what makes a great work of art:
"It is meaningful" "it gives people a feeling, like greatness" "It inspires awe" "conveys a historical event" "it is an interpretation of experience" "the size, it must be visually appealing" "a good idea with an important background" "it has a familiarity" "done by an experienced or famous artist" "portrays a well developed message" "if it is appreciated by society, popular" "relevance, and can be easily interpreted" "takes time and precision" "represents an artist and a story and a time period" "extremely complex and can be interpreted differently" "it is all in the eye of the beholder" "the effort and tine that the painters put into it" "can be memorable for many centuries" "the intention or interpretation of the artist plays a big role in how it is seen" "patience" "the history behind it, the message" "religious beliefs" "when it becomes an achievement for the artist"
